Alice Aldous was born 12th February 1896 in Chorlton. Alice had three sisters and two brothers. She was the sixth and last child of Alice Ann and Fred Aldous. Her mother, Alice Ann, passed on when she was only 17 years old.

Alice became a school teacher.

It seems Alice might have had a finance who was killed in the First World War. She never married.

Alice helped her father at Fred Aldous Ltd during WWI and while it was a Nicholas Croft and Withy Grove ??. Alice was at Withy Grove at the same time Ros was working there. She later worked her Jack at Atlas Handicrafts in the early 1950’s when it was at Spring Alley. Amongst other things, Alice compiled and edited a series of craft leaflets which were at the time by far the best in the business.

She lived at Windrush, Leafield Road, Disley, Cheshire for many years.

She is remembered as being a wonderful cook. and a lovely letter-writer. She had a beautiful garden where she spent a lot of time.

Auntie Alice died 5th September 1978 in a nursing home .
