Lew worked at Metropolitan Vickers Engineering, working on radar and so was not called up to serve during the war. Rob Aldous remembers his Great Uncle Lew working at Fred Aldous shop and building displays for the shop. He was very handy since he had worked with his father (William F Leicester) building scenery. Rob recalls Lew telling him that he had to tell the actors not to lean against the scenery as it was still wet!
Ciss latterly worked at Fred Aldous Ltd. Ros worked with her there. Rob remembers Ciss worked in the office and answered phones and she didn't mind taking control and telling customers off!
Lew and Ciss were very close friends with Lew's brother and his wife, Les and Margaret.
